Challenge Day 5 - The years first two entries and Troll alert !!!!

Firstly a couple of welcomes to Dezmond and the Happy Whisk, nice to have you join the crew of the longship I hope you enjoy what I offer from the Great Hall.

Yesterday saw me finally make a couple of submissions to Curt, as my opening salvo in the race to 1k against Kev. I know I have set of at a blistering pace but I know what he has planned and have to make massive headway or I am so not going to live it down for another year. I am also working to a personal set of targets as I have a lot of things to sort out in January which will impact on painting time so as the old saying goes 'I'm making hay while the sun shines'.

So I opened my account with a nice little Foundry Sheriff purchased through Ebay, so I have no idea which figure he actually is.

I deliberately kept the colours slightly muted for this one, so as to be more realistic and used muted tones. The black duster jacket was worked up from black, using black green then German grey highlights. The Jeans were worked from deep royal blue up with several progressively lighter dry brushes. The Hat started with a rich butternut base then a wash of umber and then dry brushed up with several lighter browns. The real fun was had making some tumble weeds for the base and after several failed efforts and ideas, I managed to construct these using polyfibre, hairspray and lots of dry brushing to lighten the fibres.

This was followed by a bunch of civilians from the ranges of Redoubt, again another internet purchase, these will be the first of my offerings on Ebay after the Christmas period. So I needed to get them painted up so I can try to raise funds to pay the bills in January.

Having been distracted by things other than Skraelings yesterday, mainly due to losing a bit of patience after the fiasco of the poorly fitting shields, and turning my attention to some Napoleonics. I have plunged into them today in a determined effort to get the painting finished. I would like to be able to start basing these up tomorrow and get them completed.

One of my other distractions yesterday was another purchase I made on Ebay, I am unable to remember why I bought him, in the first place, most likely just the butterfly and shineyitis combo got me. However this is a just for a bit of fun and will be worked on, in what I call down time, as the challenge rolls on.

After 4 very long days of painting sessions running at over 15 hours, I downed the brushes at 4pm today, ready to visit Kev so we can chew the fat over our plans for Hail Caesar in 2014. We are going to compile some to do lists and organise the periods and armies we want to play in the coming year. I also want to have a good look at his shiny new ECW army as he has been busy re-basing this for Pike and Shotte.
This is my workbench at close of play today and that is my final offering for today good people, hope you enjoyed the new figures.

Regards
Loki
